Dr. Christopher Rutt is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and families. He provides thoughtful, individualized care grounded in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and informed by contemporary research in developmental psychopathology, with a focus on delivering meaningful, measurable change.

Dr. Rutt earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Harvard University, where he also received advanced training in research, teaching, and clinical care. He completed his predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Geisinger Health System, developing expertise in delivering behavioral health services within dynamic medical settings such as emergency rooms and pediatricians’ offices.

Dr. Rutt has held multiple leadership roles in various settings. Prior to graduate school, he served as a counselor and Program Director at a residential wilderness program in northern New Hampshire. He then transitioned to the role of Program Manager for various community programs serving homeless veterans in northeastern Pennsylvania. During his time at the Boston Child Study Center, Dr. Rutt served as the Clinic Site Director (Natick) and Head of Innovation and Program Development. In these roles, he led the development of clinical programs, supervised multidisciplinary teams, and helped implement evidence-based practices at scale. He also served as a Senior Expert in Behavioral Sleep Services and in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, reflecting specialized expertise in both behavioral health interventions and emerging treatment modalities.

Dr. Rutt’s clinical background includes training at nationally recognized programs such as McLean Hospital’s 3East Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders Institute, as well as the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University. Across these settings, he developed expertise in treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, behavioral challenges, trauma-related concerns, and complex presentations in youth and families.

His approach to therapy is collaborative, structured, and tailored to each individual’s needs. Dr. Rutt has been intensively trained in multiple evidence-based interventions, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP). Broadly, he integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy within an emotion-focused framework, and includes elements of acceptance-based approaches, family systems work, and skills-based interventions. He places a strong emphasis on transparency, progress monitoring, and equipping clients and families with practical tools that extend beyond the therapy room.

In working with children and adolescents, Dr. Rutt actively partners with caregivers to support change across home, school, and social environments. With young adults and adults, he focuses on building insight, emotional regulation, and effective coping strategies that promote long-term well-being.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rutt has contributed to the scientific literature on youth mental health and assessment, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and major clinical handbooks. He has also taught courses in psychopathology and psychological science at Harvard University and received recognition for excellence in teaching.

Dr. Rutt founded his private practice with the goal of providing high-quality, evidence-based psychological care in a professional, supportive, and personalized setting.
